Heather Thomson has been involved in the field of music education for over 40 years. A pianist by training, she founded and operated arts schools in ten towns and cities across Eastern and Central Canada. Her range of interests is diverse, from musical theatre and handbells to creative movement, visual arts and bucket drumming.
After raising a family, Ms Thomson returned to school to pursue graduate studies in linguistics and education. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University, a Masters of Teaching English as a Second Language from Trinity Western and a Masters of Arts in Education from University of Toronto.
Ms Thomson holds a Special Needs Specialist certification from OISE and has considerable experience in using music for therapeutic purposes with ASD and ADHD learners. She enjoys working with families to create a network of musical support so children can achieve their fullest potential.
